Colour Kingdom

This painting has been a long time in the making, but it is nearly finished. This is actually an old photo of work in progress. The idea came about from the fact that I am incredibly bad at using my paints economically, and felt guilty about wasting them. Therefore, I wanted a way to use my leftover paint once a painting was finished, or knowing the paint would dry before I came to use it again. I took the union jack as a tapestry of varying hues (tones, tints, shades; whatever you want to call them) of red, white and blue. It began when I first came to Denmark, and so, through 7 years I have taken colours from each painting and added to the Union Jack. So this painting is a kind of story of my time and work. The choice of image, shape, proportions and colour send a message….
